Jessica Burke is a member of the 2023 graduating class of Sacred Heart High School in Ottawa, Ontario. Jessica is a very technical goalie who likes to focus on small movements and details in her crease. She is a very competitive athlete who continuously aims to improve on and off the ice. Jessica has been a goalie for the past ten years, which has allowed her to discover her strengths. For eight of her ten years as a goalie, Jessica has trained at Complete Hockey Development with goalie coach Matt Dopud. Her strengths include her awareness, technicality, patience, ability to track the puck, and her ability to play the puck to keep play moving. Jess is very communicative on and off the ice with her teammates and coaches. If given the opportunity, Jessica aspires to continue her hockey career through university. After university, she would like to pursue a career path in the sports industry, potentially a sports journalist. Standing at 5’7”, Jessica is a solid goalie who instills a sense of reliability for her team. In 2017, Jessica took home bronze in the Peewee BB provincials. In October of 2018 (minor bantam), Jessica was awarded player of the month, in the Kanata Girls Hockey Association, after posting five consecutive shutouts and bringing home gold in the Oakville Hornets Harvest Classic tournament. In the 2021/22 season, Jessica was awarded co MVP with her goalie partner. Jessica enjoys playing a wide variety of sports such as football, basketball, and softball. Aside from athletics, academics are one of Jessica’s top priorities, as well as her family. From grades 7-10, Jessica has been an honor roll student while achieving her highest average in grade 10 at 89%. Jessica enjoys helping out in her community. Recently, Jessica took part in volunteer services at the food bank and assistant coaching minor hockey practices. Jessica is an athlete who consistently gives 100% effort to improve her game and those around her.
