Fees

RSLGHA has a two tier payment structure that consists of Association Fees and Team Fees, each managed by different treasurers and each paying for different aspects of our operation, as follows:

ASSOCIATION FEES

Association fees are determined annually by the Executive based on the budget drawn up by the association's treasurer and include the following:

Ice Rental - $180 per hour blended rate - 120 hours home ice per season for U15 (Bantam) and older teams, 80 hours home ice per season for U13 (PeeWee) age and below

League Fees - Principally the cost of officials for 12 league and play-off games plus team registration fees

OWHA Fees - Hockey Canada insurance for all players and up to five bench staff (currently $53 per person per season), player registration fee and Bond for participation in Provincials

Development - Each team is allocated $2000 for expenditure on specific clinics or development training, e.g. shooting clinic, power-skating instructor. In addition each goalie is allocated $600 toward technical skills training with a professional goalie instructor. All coaching and trainer course fees are paid for by the association.

Other Expenses - Trainer kits & associated supplies, website hosting & domain name, bank and administration costs (postage, paper, cheques, etc), advertising, meeting room fees, OWHA meeting attendance in GTA (twice per year for 1 Executive), RSL showcase exhibition day.

As an illustration, for teams that have 90 minute practices and games the Association Fees for the past 3 seasons have been held at $1900 per player. For teams that have 60 minute practices and games the association fee is expected to be in the region of $1300.

Payment of Association Fees is scheduled over three instalments. The first instalment of $500 is due on accepting an offer of a place on the team and confirms the player's place on the official roster and clearance to play games. It also confers membership of RSLGHA and thereby voting rights at the AGM. The second instalment ($700) is due on 15 September and the final instalment on 1 November. Payment can be made by cash, cheque or electronic fund transfer.

TEAM FEES

Team fees are determined by an agreement between the team treasurer, manager and coach. They cover the following:

Tournament fees, including Provincials
Officials for exhibition and playdown games
Hockey Canada insurance for additional bench staff (first 5 bench staff paid for by association)
Respect in Sport Training
Additional development activity
(at coach's discretion)
Strength and Conditioning Training (off-ice)
Non-parent coach reimbursement (if applicable)
Helmet decals/ C and A lettering
First aid consummables
(to replenish Trainer's kit)
Team Admin costs (bank fees, postage, game labels, cheques, etc)
Practice jerseys (at team discretion)
Year-end Mementos (at team discretion)

A broad "rule of thumb" for team fees is $150 per player for every tournament that the team participates in. So, the more tournaments your team plays the higher will be the team fee. RSLGHA advocates quality over quantity when it comes to tournament selection.

TEAM CLOTHING

Costs for On-Ice and Off-Ice teamwear are in addition and applied separately. Team treasurers collect payment when invoices have been received. For the 2021-2022 season a set of on-ice teamwear consisting of home and away jersey, shell pants and two pairs of socks, was under $160.
