Seventeen-year-old, Lara Desjardins, plays defense for the Rideau St. Lawrence Thunder U18AA and has been with the club for 3 years having previously played with Ottawa Girls and Metcalfe Minor Hockey, where she started Initiation at 5 years of age. With Ottawa Girls she attended Provincials twice. Lara uses her 5’6” frame naturally in the defense position playing both physically and offensively. She is very coachable and communicates with her teammates during play. She is a grade 12 student at St. Mark Catholic High School. She has been on honour roll since Grade 9 and maintains a 90% average. Team sports are her passion. In high school she consistently plays on the Tackle Football team, the Touch Football team, the Volleyball team, and the Hockey Team. Lara’s goal is to play University/College level hockey while pursuing her education. She is interested in Physical Education and her goal is to become a teacher. She speaks both French and English and takes all her high school courses in either language. Lara works part-time at our local town Mexican restaurant helping to prepare food, taking orders and serving customers. When she is not at school, at hockey, at work or out for a run, you can find Lara hanging out with her family and her dog Max.
