Volunteers
"Ask not what your team can do for you, ask what you can do for your team."
Below is a list of the key volunteer roles that each team will be looking to fill from their parent cadre. You need not limit yourself to one task!
Team Manager - overall administration and management of the team - central figure in creating the flow of communication both internally and between the team and all support systems - See RSL Thunder Manager General Guidelines
Trainer - implement risk management programme within the team and enhance safety of players - Note RSL Thunder Emergency Action Plan Policy and list of Trainer Responsibilities.
Treasurer - manage the team finances and cash flow, prepare budget, collect and disburse funds, present financial statements as required - How to be a team treasurer document for support.
Timekeeper - man the timekeepers booth for all home games, ensure proper functioning of equipment and run the game clock - RSL Timekeeper Guide
Game Sheet Compiler (Scorekeeper) - assist timekeeper by completing game sheet - See ODWHA gamesheet tutorial and OWHA list of penalty codes
In accordance with ODWHA Constitution Rule Four, "The home team will be responsible for providing a scorekeeper and a timekeeper."
Statistician - liaise with league statistician - maintain team records, submit/post regular season game sheets as required - enter team details into ODWHA website - input game scores into ITSportsNet and ODWHA websites.
Risk Assessment & Safety - identify, assess, eliminate or minimize risk and abuse - Safety requires teamwork Information - uphold a social networking policy to promote responsible and maintain a record of Police Record Checks - code of conduct - code of ethics.
Dressing Room Supervision (Locker Room Keepers) - ensure the privacy of all players and to provide a safe and inclusive environment in the dressing room - ensure proper conduct of players and staff - OWHA Handbook Page B-3 See RSL Thunder Policy on Dressing Rooms.
Accommodation Manager - liaise with and book team accommodations for all road trips - ensure booking details shared with families - liaise with hotel staff.
Social Secretary - identify opportunities for and organise team functions, e.g. dinner, BBQ, team-building activity, end-of-season party, etc.
Fundraising Coordinator - establish a committee to develop and execute fundraising on behalf of the team in order to reduce costs to individuals - to include bringing in of sponsorship. Note RSL Thunder Sponsorship Policy
Clothing Coordinator - on and off-ice - responsible for co-ordinating provision of on ice uniforms (jerseys, socks, shell-pants) and facilitating the ordering of off-ice attire.
Media relations - maintain a link with local press and provide newsworthy stories for publishing in papers.
Photographer - keep a pictorial record of the team's season - provide images for team website and media as required.
